On 22 September 2023, Baker Tilly A&C and ACCA signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on offering a course on the ACCA’s Certificate in International Financial Reporting (CertIFR) in Vietnamese language. The course will help many accountants and financial experts in Vietnam improve their knowledge and skills in applying global standards for financial transparency and accountability.

The signing ceremony was attended by Mr. Vo Hung Tien - Chairman cum General Director, Mr. Nguyen Chi Dung, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thanh, Mr. Nguyen Minh Tri, Mr. Ho Van Tung who jointly hold the positon of Deputy General Director, Directors, Managers and representatives from the Administration - Human Resources Department of Baker Tilly A&C; and ACCA representatives including Mr. Ren Varma – the ACCA’s Regional Director of Mainland Southeast Asia, Mr. To Quoc Hung – Country Manager of ACCA Vietnam, Ms. Doan Lieu An – Head of Corporate Affairs Department, ACCA Vietnam.

With the cooperation in the first days ACCA was present in Vietnam, the MOU is an important stride to further promote the long-term cooperative relationship between Baker Tilly A&C and ACCA as the two organizations share the same vision and mission in promoting professional activities in Vietnam and globally. Through the MOU, A&C is pleased to become the first auditing firm to offer CerIFR training programs in Vietnam, certified by ACCA.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Ren Varma – ACCA’s Regional Director of Mainland Southeast Asia said that “In our opinion, the initiative not only is beneficial for trainees but also contributes to the development of businesses and the society since it will enhance trust and confidence in financial information – the foundation for economic activities and decision making processes. We want to support the sustainable development of the accounting profession in Vietnam, as well as its roles in implementing the IFRS adoption roadmap in Vietnam, by improving the accessibility to education and world-class career development opportunities”.

Mr. Vo Hung Tien – General Director of Baker Tilly A&C, shared at the ceremony that “We especially believe in the educational philosophy and business values that both ACCA and A&C are aiming for in our joint commitment to providing CertIFR course on International Financial Reporting in Vietnamese for accounting and finance workers in Vietnam, contributing to improving the accounting practice capacity according to International Financial Reporting Standards for the accounting and financial professional community in Vietnam”.

By the signing of the MOU and the joint commitment, Baker Tilly A&C began promotion activities for the training program to potential trainees in October 2023. Baker Tilly A&C organized the first CertIFR course in November 2023 and will since then have recommendations for follow-up training courses.

Education and training have always been among the top priorities during Baker Tilly A&C’s development journey over the past 30 years and in the coming years. Therefore, the MOU signing ceremony will open up many opportunities for the two sides’ future cooperation in training projects, contributing to the development of the accounting and financial community in Vietnam.
