What have Vietnamese purchased most on the Internet in the past year?
According to the Vietnam E-Commerce White Paper 2019 issued by the Department of E-Commerce and Digital Economy under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, in 2018, Vietnam's retail e-commerce revenue reached US $ 8.06 billion with an increase of up to 30%.
This is also the largest growth in the past 3 years. The number of users participating in online shopping transactions has also increased to nearly 40 million.
The average transaction value per person was 22 USD, up to 16 USD compared to 2017. E-commerce in the past year also accounted for 4.2% of total retail sales of goods and services use the whole country.
Also according to the white paper, the most bought products online were clothes, shoes and cosmetics with 61%, books, stationery, flowers, gifts 46%; Household appliances (46%); Technology and electronics (43%)
Less than 35% have food and tickets for passenger transport services such as airplanes, trains and cars. Hotel and tour booking activities accounted for 31%. The remaining popular services are learning, digital content such as games, music and videos.
The good news with e-commerce websites is that their direct access to these websites accounts for 74%. The purchase via social networking, forums accounted for 36%. There are 52% of users use mobile devices to make purchases and transactions.
However, there are still obstacles to e-commerce activities in Vietnam. 47% of users surveyed said that e-commerce customer care is still poor. 43% of users are afraid of being exposed to personal information.
Other problems for users are the feeling that prices on e-commerce services are higher than the actual prices or the price is unclear, the delivery quality is poor or the website, application design is not professional.
The percentage of orders that cannot be delivered to buyers, buyers canceling orders after placing or not receiving goods in 2018 remains the same as in 2017.
